Communication Challenges in Global Financial Market

The JALT Business Communication SIG and Waseda University Global Career Alumni Association will jointly host a special session discussing the communication challenges faced by multilingual traders in the international financial market, inviting a foreign exchange and currency market expert who has experience working in London and Tokyo. She also served as Senior VP at the US arm of a large Japanese bank in Los Angeles, overseeing the bank's foreign exchange trading. We will also discuss future currency market trends with regard to the Yen-Dollar, Yen-Starling, and Euro relations.

Tomoko Iwakawa is the Senior Vice President and Managing Director at City National Bank, where she leads a team of FX Advisors. She has over three decades of experience in finance, having previously worked at MUFG Union Bank in California, Morgan Stanley in London, and Morgan Bank in Tokyo. She holds a master's degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a bachelor's degree from Keio University. Alongside her professional career, she contributes to organizations such as the Japan America Society of Southern California and the Asia America Symphony Association.

岩川倫子氏さんは金融業界で30年以上の経験があり、これまでMUFGユニオン銀行(米国）、モルガン・スタンレー(英国)、モルガン銀行(東京)に勤務してきました。慶応義塾大学経済学部を卒業後、ロンドン・スクール・オブ・エコノミクスの大学院で経済学の修士号を取得。現在は、シティ・ナショナル銀行のシニア・バイスプレジデント兼マネージング・ディレクターで、FXアドバイザーのチームのトップ。岩川さんは、また、プライベートでは、南カリフォルニア日米協会やアジアアメリカ交響楽団協会などの組織でも重要な役職を務め活躍しています。
